Camera quality on CM or AOSP

Thinking about switching from my LG G3 to an S6. How's the camera quality with custom ROMs based on CM or AOSP? With LG, the camera frameworks are closed source so you sacrifice some camera quality if you move to a custom ROM.

• Is this the case with the S6?
• If so, do stock-based custom ROMs maintain original camera quality?
