Samsung cloud service name?

There isn't much more to say, but I'll elaborate; using package disabler pro, I've disabled all bloatware apps. I've noticed this disables Samsung Cloud. The phone has been functioning perfectly fine, but more backups can't hurt, so I'd just like to know the name of the service used to sync data. The names in the program aren't really intuitive to tell.

[HELP]Create a task to measure how average amp charge

Hi,

I am trying to monitor how much amp my phone is being charged given a specific time.

There is a tutorial where i can use tasker to create a battery log -> http://ift.tt/2bSmm17

I can replicate this and thought can use a similar script for what i want to do. My only issue is that I can't seem to find a variable in Tasker that measures how much power my phone is receiving when charging.

Can someone help me with this? I download a few apps that measure your amps and it shows the max min amp. But nothing about avg amp.

Can't wipe/format/recover/reset to factory settings my P8000 at all

Hi guys,

I have been trying to clean my P8000 to install a new ROM and sell it, but no matter what I do, I can't.

Basically, I go into recovery mode (PhilZ), try ALL possible options on it such as "Clean to install a new ROM", "Wipe user data", "Wipe Cache", "Wipe DALVIK". Believe me, I tried it all. Even though in the menu it shows as "successful", when I reboot my phone (even if I tried the process of installing a new ROM), it reboots to the good old Cyanogen I had previously installed like nothing happened!!

Of course, I have already tried the Android option (Redefine to factory settings) and again, phone just reboots like nothing happened. :crying:

Never seen this in any phone before!

Any ideas?

Can't enable swap. Please help

I'm using s5282. Build is XXANF3.
I am using stock rom. I have root and busibox installed.
My default kernel doesn't support swap so I tried some of custom kernel given here which say it support swap.
Kernel I tried-
1) basic kernel by corphish - after flashing it I can see the basic kernel logo but I can't enable swap

2) zapdos v5 by corphish - again I can see the zapdos logo and but no swap support

3) a kernel by aakarsh99- but with no success.

For swapping I am using simple root swap. I granted it root access then I created a swap file of 200 mb. I can see the file in sd card. Then I checked auto start and finally hit the ON button. But in info it shows all values 0. I also tried rebooting but no success.

I am using cwm 6.0.5.1 for flashing files.

What I am doing wrong?

[Review] Choetech USB-C Accessories (wireless charger, car charger) & Note 7

Disclaimer: I was sent these items in exchange for my fair and unbiased review
It's been a while since I've posted a review here because I've been rather busy, so without further ado here's a short simple review of some new(er) products I was sent.

Choetech USB A-C "flat" TPE cable 2-Pack (Black/white)
I was looking for a cable to replace the fabled OnePlus A-C cables that were out of spec thus were returned last year; Choetech sent me these, and to say the least I was excited.
First, let's talk about the design at hand. Each cable features a nice aluminum end on both sides with Choetech branding giving it quality (premium is overused) feel alongside the flat region housing the wire. The metal ends will show wear faster than plastic because metal scratches, and I'm fine with that. I appreciate the longer length (1.2[m] i.e. 4[ft]) giving you more flexibility for their intended usage. I've used the black cable quite a bit since first receiving it, so I will post a few pictures showing how it wears overtime down below. The flat region of the cable has a nice feel to it coupled with the solid connections where the metal meets the TPE. I don't feel like these will pull apart, or break anytime soon, so I'm happy with their build. Each cable also has the proper 56k [ohm-m] resistor for the Nexus 6P as it should at this point in the game.
Now, if I had to be picky there is one small issue I experience (rather it's how the cable is made). Each cable doesn't have a perfectly flat, uniform, or even area where the TPE (flat area) meets the metal; I'm a little OCD about these things. With that being said there is no issue with the cable's functionality since that is merely a cosmetic nitpick that I personally have. In the end I would happily buy these cables as a gift, or another lot for myself given how much I've been using them.

Choetech 33W USB-C & QC 3.0 Type-A Enabled Car Charger

I own many car chargers, but as of lately I don't use them because my new car has Android Auto. I recently decided to keep this particular one in my car because sometimes my wife wants to charge her phone, or I just need to have a secondary charging solution for my other phones (Note 7 and S7 Edge). Choetech did something I appreciate here: there is a proper dedicated USB-C port for the Nexus 6P/5X that will output only 5V/3A as it should. The other port is a dedicated QC 3.0 output for all of your other phones like in my case the two Samsung phones.

On the build side you will find a typical glossy plastic body with a matte black back featuring Choetech's logo, and the ports. There is a blue light that let's you know when you're charging, or when the charger is plugged into your car correctly. The included cable is also quite nice, and will give your Nexus 6P 1.5A from the QC 3.0 legacy port, but if you want to rapidly charge the phone, then you will need a USB C-C cable. It's nice to be able to charge my Nexus 6P and Note 7/S7 Edge rapidly from the same car charger since most of them don't support the proper USB-C PD standard on at least 1 port.

Ports:
USB-C: 5V 3A
QC 3.0: 3.6-5.5V 2.4A (max)
5.6-9V 2A (max)
9.1-12V 1.5A (max)

In the box:
Choetech 33W Dual port car charger (USB-C and QC 3.0)
USB A-C cable

Overall I keep this charger in my center console as a backup, I just wish it also came with a USB C-C cable for when I want to rapidly charge my Nexus 6P. I own a ton of C-C cables, but not everyone does, so for that reason I hope Choetech includes both cables in the future even if it means adding a few $$ to the price because everyone will benefit from that.
A USB C-C at 5V/3A does seem to still charge the Note 7 'fast' as well according to the phone, but it won't be as fast as using a QC2.0/3.0 port like the one on Choetech's other car chargers.

Choetech 30W QC 3.0 Enabled Car Charger
Choetech was nice enough to send me another variant of the car charger I review above. This particular one features two standard USB-A ports instead of a USB-C and USB-A as I wrote about in another review.
The build is identical to Choetech's other current generation car chargers which is a good thing. On the outside you will find glossy plastic wrapped around seamlessly with a matte black front accented by a blue LED to let you know it has power. The included cable will allow you to quick charge your Note 7 via QC 2.0 since that's the standard Samsung went with instead of QC 3.0 (same as the Note 7 & S7/S7 Edge).

Ports:
USB 1: 5V 2.4A
QC 3.0: 3.6-5.5V 2.4A (max)
5.6-9V 2A (max)
9.1-12V 1.5A (max)

Choetech Water Resistant pouch
Water resistant pouches might not get a second look given the Note 7's IP68 rating, but I know some people tend to forget what that actually means. The IP68 certification is conducted using fresh water NOT salt water, brine, or anything else you might encounter using a phone. This pouch will help give you an added level of protection especially when out at the beach, or in situations where you might encounter other potentially harmful fluids.

I tested the pouch with my Nexus 6P, and it fit in there without any issues; since the Nexus 6P is larger than my Note 7, or S7 Edge you shouldn't have any issues fitting the phone while using a thin fitting case.
Inserting the phone is also simple, all you need to do is 'roll' the two plastic locking retainers at the top, plop your phone in, and close them. This process might take a little getting used to because they need to be properly aligned before the tabs will latch down correctly. I only had a minor hiccup with this my first time messing around, after that it was a breeze to throw my phone in there.

Overall I intend on keeping this pouch in my work bag because I encounter fluids that would likely destroy my Note 7 on a daily basis, so the use of a pouch would still help mitigate/prevent damage.

Choetech 10W Fast Wireless Charger W/USB-C Input
I've written about my previous experiences with a variety of wireless chargers from just about every well-known company (Samsung, LG, TYLT, Meenova, Tronsmart, Choetech etc..), yet all of those lacked one key thing USB-C. Yes, I know people are probably thinking "that's a new standard, and I don't want to switch" or whatever other comment that may cross his/her mind. I think the biggest/best thing to happen in the past year is the increased adoption of the USB-C standard; this includes wireless chargers too!
Although Choetech is not the first company to make a USB-C wireless charger (Samsung made one, or at least planned to in Russia) the mass market availability of this one makes it better.

Design:
As with most wireless chargers you won't find any over the top odd ball design here, but rather a simple 3.5inx3.5in square that houses sheer happiness in the form of wireless charging. Choetech opted for a 3-coil charger meaning you can place the phone easier with less headache aligning the coils between your phone/charger. I found placement to be very simple, and not require and readjustments once you know where your phones coil is (usually centered in the back).
The charger has a nice little LED that adjusts its brightness based on the ambient light based on my understanding. At night the LED will glow at a much lower level so it won't bother you while your phone is on your nightstand. Another great feature of the LED is its ability to light up in a different color for fast charging than in standard charging. Slow or standard charging will appear as a solid blue LED, while fast or rapid charging will be a green LED. This allows you to quick see the status of your phones charge (it also notifies you in a way if your phone is charged) making it all the more convenient.

In the Box:

Choetech 10W Fast Wireless Charger
USB A-C charging cable
User Manual
Contact information

Unlike previous chargers Choetech made this one will work using the stock Samsung wall adapter without any issues due to the higher efficiency of this model. I tested mine using the Stock Samsung wall charger, a Choetech QC 3.0 charger, Choetech 6 port QC 3.0 charging hub, HTC QC 3.0 charger, and a Choetech QC 3.0 external 10400mAh battery pack without any issues.

Slow Charging

Fast Charging

Overall:

Choetech made a compelling and bold move over to USB-C for their latest wall charger in a market of old styled MicroUSB power units. This alone makes the charger worth buying, but when you factor in the small footprint, nice high quality plastic build, and versatility (works with just about any QC 2.0 or above wall adapter), then you have an excellent fast wireless charger.

Choetech Note 7 Wallet Folio

I tend to own a plethora of case for every phone, and the Note 7 is no exception to that trend. This is my second folio case for it so far even though I'm really not a big fan of them at all. The case holds 2 cards in the folio section, although I really can't advise anyone actually putting any in there because it cases the case to become overly thick along with keeping the flap from resting properly. A lot of folios will use some sort of magnetic, or other closure mechanism to keep the case shut, unfortunately there isn't any such one on this case. The material is a sort of pleather (feels somewhat nice) as is expected on most non-premium cases out there.

Ports:
Choetech kept all of the bottoms ports fully open which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you're looking for. Most folio cases offer some degree of screen protection, but usually aren't intended to really take a drop like conventional TPU cases are. The design of the inner shell that houses the phone is akin to what Samsung did with theirs, so I can't say it's a particular good or bad thing. I work both in an office, and out in the field, so having a crucial part of my phone exposed is less than ideal, with that being said the bottom cutout will affect everyone's needs differently.

Volume/Power Buttons:

All of the buttons have cut outs that give you ample room to press the buttons when the folio is open. On the other hand, when you close the case it makes pressing the volume keys harder because you have to push around on the side to figure out where they are.

Overall:
There are some fairly large issues with this case including the lack of a closure mechanism (something to keep it shut), hard to find volume buttons when the folio is closed, along with the exposed bottom area which will affect everyone differently. Aside from these issues I can't say it's a particularly bad case, or a good one it just falls somewhere in the middle.

Battery being drained by apps I didn't open?

Hey all - weird situation here. For the last few days or so my battery has been draining *really* fast and the phone is very warm. Yesterday I went to the battery settings to see what the culprit was and it was an Amazon app that I *never* open - so I disabled it. Same thing today. This time:

17% - Android OS
12% Amazon app suite
12% Email
11% DJI Go, a drone-control app.

I haven't opened anything Amazon ever (bloatware) or DJI GO in at least a month. How are apps I'm not even opening draining my battery? They're not running - at least not that I can see in the task manager. And e-mail? Nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm grateful for any theories as to exactly what the crap is going on with my beloved phone!!

I have samsung galaxy s6 edge from the att network. I was on android 5.0.1 but i wanted to update to marshmallow and have all the cool features the update brings. i was able to update to 5.1.1 and everything was good. the last thing to do was to update too 6.0.1 and the only method i could find to update att s6 edge to marshmallow was "via sideload" anyways, the update adb via sideload was complete and the device booted up fined and everything was ok until i tried to make a call an it says "emergency calls on" I no w realized that i am unable to get any form of network communication with the device. i entered code *#0011# and it brought up the menu where i saw "imei status: NG" instead of "imei status: ok". i am now thinking the efs has been corrupted of some kind or so. but the imei shows up when i dial *#06# but still i am gettinng no network communication. i really need my phone to be working again to be able to make call etc. any help towards this will be greatly appreciated.

Music coming through speakers, while headphones are plugged in

Hello XDA Community,

I have the problem I mentioned in the title. I plug in my headphones and there's no response, the phone just keeps playing through speaker.
Same thing if I plug in the headphones and then start playing music.
I tried a workaround with an app named Soundabout and it worked, so I thought this is a software issue, and proceeded to reset my phone to factory settings.
The problem is that the problem is still there.
I have had the phone for approximately 3 months, and it is not, nor has it ever been rooted, or tempered with in any way.
I would really appreciate some help

Samsun Galaxy Mega - AT&T - won't power on

Read lots of forums that said might be a connector issue. I just replaced the port with no luck. Was using the phone after rooting and was doing research about installing custom roms. (I'm an apple guy trying out the android world). The phone just shut off. I thought it might have died so I tried to charge it. There was no charge light and even after replacing the port still no charge light.

I had tried to install twrp and it said there was an error and to try to restart when it gave me the "unsupported" blah blah "go to AT&T". A restart holding volume down+home+power then volume down got me going for the time being. After this is when I've been having the power issues.

I've tried holding the power for like 30 seconds and even tried holding volume up+home+power and volume down+home+power.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

[551ml] flashboot FAILD (remote: flash_cmds error!) Im stuck in fastboot

HW_Version -
Bootloader Version - unknown
IFWI Version - 0094 - 1069
Serial Number - my #
Signing - ?
Secure_boot - ?

RESULT: FAILD (remote: flash_cmds error!)

Thats what my bootloader looks like. What happened was I tried to update from Stock .184 to the new MM build. I downloaded the file and got prompted the update in my phone. It installed or did something and when it rebooted I was stuck in a bootloop with no screen.

I ended up using xFSTK Downloader everything went fine, my phone turned on with 4 colored bars and brought me in to the bootloader. I proceed to use Asus Flash Tool to flash the raw file of .194 and that's where my problem started.

It was taking soo long so I took my dog out for a good 15-20 min walk came back and the flash tool was still doing its thing and the green bar was still moving and on my phone it said RESULT OKAY.

I ended up closing the Flash Tool because it was taking soo long. I rebooted my phone then it goes in a bootloop with the 4 colored bars on the screen. Then I just keep repeating these steps and can't get anywhere.

When I am able to get in the bootloader after using xFSTK Downloader I cant use some flashboot commands. I cant flash twrp because I get FAILD (remote: flash_cmds error!) .

I was going by this guide here. http://ift.tt/28RCf7J

EDIT: I just noticed that my phone doesnt come up as MOOREFIELD in device manager. when it turns on and goes in to the bootloader it shows for a second and goes away.
I'm very thankful for anyone that responds. Thx for reading.

#brickgate

Hi everyone, I had some strange behavior with my note 7 last night, it locked up for abou 10-15 seconds and then rebooted itself and got stuck in a bootloop, it looped through the first boot screen for around 10-15 cycles and eventually managed to boot up, I kept having random reboots and bootlooping for the next hour or so, I suspected it could be the stock browser as it seemed to be what I had open when most of the reboots occurred so I disabled it with EZ disabler, I haven't had any trouble since last night and I have re enabled the stock browser a day still don't seem to have any problems yet. I googled it and found that apparently a lot of people with the exynos variant are having similar issues, I read somewhere that it was the July date coded models that had the issue but mine is an August coded model, does anyone know anything about this?

Touchscreen issues

I wonder whether this issue exists only between me and my note7..;)

Very often I'd have to press same thing (be it button, link, key) an extra time for the phone to actually act on it. At first thought it had to do with the way I was holding the curved screen but it does the same when it's sitting on the table for instance. Kinda reminds me of the nexus 7 similar issues a few years back.

I have tested the touchscreen already and all seems to be fine, in a test environment that is all touches register ok.

So what do you think about this, could it be just some fancy lag?

HEY, i need some help with regards to a galaxy note 4 sm-n910f it wont come on nor will it go into download mode, my friend tried rooting it but when he took it off and tried to turn it back on, it went into download mode a few times he tried to flash it via odin but he got some error with emmc write fail i think, i took it and tried to flash it via samsung kies same problem, as well as firmware along with pit file and same problem occured, another error noted was "there is no pit binary" when i attempted to flash it via odin, now it just wont come on, but when i plug it into the computer i could hear the sound it makes when connected, so im not sure what the problem is although after visiting forums as well as the ones here i have concluded that the emmc probably went bad, i was looking at different work arounds and was wondering if there is any unbrickable mod for the note 4 like what Adam Outler made and used for the captivate some years ago, i saw that it put the captivate into download mode without buttin combinations, if i can get it back into downlaod mode i would try heimdall if thats even possible... i have come across the jtag fix as well and octoplus i believe to fix the emmc... what do you guys recommend? any assistance is appreciated. :) the note 4 was on android 6.0.1 marshmallow

Is there anyway to make a WIFI Direct connection on the 5GHZ band?

Hi everyone,

I'm part of a robotics club in my school, and we use wifi direct with 2 phones to communicate between the robot and the remote control. We found that at times there would be a big delay between an input and a response from the robot at competition. We're assuming it has to do with a ton of other teams all using wifi direct at the same time and crowding up the 2.4 GHz band. So we were wondering if there was anyway to use WIFI Direct on the 5 GHZ band with the Nexus 6P or possibly any other phone you know of.

Thx in Advance

[Technical] Bypassing Restrictions on Samsung xCover3 Lollipop 5.1.1. [Read Desc]

Hello XDA, I am a user of a Samsung xCover 3, which is considered a low activity device. With Samsung as they are and the new restrictions placed on the phone after updating to Lollipop 5.1.1, obtaining root or a custom recovery is a hard task, which I and @VolterPL Have yet to crack.

Since about page 2, I and VolterPL have been trying different attack vectors to gain root but to no avail, I have been doing a decent amount of research in try various methods, will describe the methods below, and am wondering if you guys have any suggestions or corrections to different attack vectors to gain root. Since this is a low activity device their is no experienced developers working on this device.
http://ift.tt/2bTJMWF

So Without further ado, lets try and figure out this problem

Device Specifications:
  • Current Android Version: Android Lollipop 5.1.1
  • Chipset: Marvell Armada PXA1908 (Note: Due to this being a rarely used chip, the CF-Auto root wont work)
  • Custom Recovery Status: TWRP 3.0.2-0 (More on this later on)
  • Root Status (This is why I am here): Android KitKat 4.4.4 - Root , Android Lollipop 5.1.1. - NO ROOT
  • ARM 64-bit

Currently Attempted Attack Vectors to Gain Root and TWRP on 5.1.1.

- Generic Flashing TWRP Via Odin, and then Flashing SuperSU
Failed: When Flashing TWRP with Auto Reboot: Enabled. This fails and Displays an message saying that "Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing. Then the recovery gets replaced with stock again, due to the "install-recovery.sh" script that is found in "/system/bin" which replaces the custom recovery to stock when it realize the SHA-1 sums are incorrect to what is has in the script
- Flashing TWRP Via Odin(Auto Reboot OFF), Flashing SuperSU, Removing the "install-recovery.sh" script and Flash TWRP Back again, http://ift.tt/2bTIA5Q
Failed: When Flashing TWRP with Auto Reboot: Disabled, so we could boot straight to TWRP. But when VolterPL tried, he failed, http://ift.tt/2bTI3Rc, it wont boot into any recovery. Also with the "Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing" I realize Now (TODAY, 1/09/2016) that this will always show unless its signed by samsung.
- Compiling custom kernel with a flag disabled to allow switching between "Permissive" and "Enforcing" modes
Failed: I was planning to compile the kernel myself (Haven't yet compiled it yet due to internet limitations on my end), but VolterLP Compiled one himself. We where following, and changing instructions when need, this guide http://ift.tt/TjLtQU
The Flag we disbaled was this

Code:

EXTRA_CFLAGS += -DCONFIG_ALWAYS_ENFORCE=true
where we changed it from "true" to "false" to allow switching between selinux modes, this is a custom flag by samsung which disables the ability to switch between selinux modes unless you compile the kernel with that flag disabled, which we tried and failed.
Reasons why I believed this might work was due to this line

Code:

service set_permissive /sbin/toolbox setenforce 0
oneshot
seclabel u:r:recovery:s0

in the TWRP Source code, "init.rc" file which set the recovery to run in permissive mode. http://ift.tt/2bTIn2q

When trying to boot after flashing the compiled kernel, VolterLP was unable to boot his device correctly, http://ift.tt/2bTJuiI
- One Click Root Apps
Failed: I myself haven't tried this yet, but plenty of other users are reporting that theses types of rooting are not working on the lollipop version of the device.
- VolterPL try a modified TWRP, see his post here: http://ift.tt/1G2Y91E
Currently Unknown if it has worked or not as he has not replied back yet
If anyone is able to help, please responds back, I would really appreciate it. If there is any error or the like please tell me.

[D855] 3G and 4G issues

Hello,

first of all, thanks for taking your time to read this.

>> Ill start by explaining my problem and list my diag. method.

So my problem is that my LG G3, that i bought used about 2 weeks ago, its an European Version (D855) and i am SURE that my ISP supports the bands that my phone does (800Mhz/1800Mhz, so band 3 and 20). THe problem is that whenever i have 3/4G selected, not 2G, the phone has contant restarts. The restarts happen on any AOSP based ROM (the only ones ive tried using), examples are CM13, CM12.1, LiquidSmooth, etc... On the default LG D855 ROM (installed with the LG PC suite) it simplly looses connection any time i use 3/4G, it does not restart but it does not have a stable connection. In the case of the custom ROMs the restarts happen anywhere between a second after boot or 5-10 minutes. Ive tried reinstalling CM multiple times, and have also tried reinstalling the european official ROMs, both 5.0 and 6.0. I DO have the correct APNs set. I have tried setting it to LTE only in the secret menu, did not change the resaults.

What do you think can be the problem, is this a HW problem or possibly a firmware, IMEI problem?

Thanks

//Sorry for my horrible english :p

Boot-looping Nexus 6P - caused by Photo Sphere?

First post here at XDA - before I start with my problem, I should say thanks to everyone who posts here. I've come across this site so often when looking for information and always found it to be very helpful.

I was taking a Photo Sphere photo a few weeks ago, and after the photo had been taken, and during the processing/rendering stage, I looked away from my phone while holding it to let it work. I looked down to see the finished result about 30 seconds later and saw the Google startup screen. It appears that somehow, taking a Photo Sphere photo may have soft bricked my 6P, but I have no idea how. The phone itself was working perfectly normally prior to that.

I kept manually restarting it, powering it off, booting to recovery and restarting to see if I could get it back to normal with no success. It would occasionally, maybe one in twenty times, get to the Android boot animation, but would freeze after around 5 seconds on that, then restart again. Eventually, I thought to clear the cache partition via TWRP, so I did so and it then booted and loaded Android as normal. However, one of the first things I did was go to Settings to reset the time as it was wrong, and, as soon as it displayed the Settings screen, the phone restarted again, and no amount of cache clearing has resolved the issue since.

It's a 64GB 6P running Marshmallow 6.0.1, unlocked and rooted via Heisenberg's excellent guide and running TWRP 3.0.2.0, which was the latest available when I rooted. Right now, upon starting, it shows the "Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader." message as normal, then the Google logo, then it restarts and does the same again. I can access recovery mode as normal.

Does anyone have any ideas what steps I need to take to get my 6P operable again? Given that it booted after I wiped the cache then rebooted when I went to settings, my relatively uneducated presumption is that the root has somehow gotten messed up, but I don't know enough about troubleshooting Android to resolve it myself. I'd obviously prefer to avoid wiping it and losing data if possible. Although I'm a computer geek, I'm not 100% sure about Android ADB/fastboot commands and what to run to resolve this issue, so I thought I should defer to the experts here. I was considering flashing the factory image (part 11 of Heisenberg's guide) to see if that helped, but wasn't sure if that's the best first step to try at this point so thought it best to seek some advice rather than turn a soft brick into a hard one.

Thanks for any and all assistance!

Airplane mode constantly turning on and off

My phone is rooted, im on stock 5.0.1 no custom recovery or anything like that. I haven't changed or done anything to the phone recently either.

If I hold the power button down and look at the airplane mode option it will flicker on and off and as I lose service. Every now and then I'll get service for 5-10 seconds but most of the time my phone signal and data connection are off. Wifi and bluetooth work.

how to check if my phone is encrypted

Been on KK until now, need quick update to current state of affairs.

Anyhow, is my phone fully encrypted? How do I check if it is? If it is can I make it decrypted?
The reason I'm asking, with MM Google made full encryption mandatory on most phones but IMO full phone encryption is useless, that's what secure folder and Knox is for and the fact that Crapple encrypts all its iphones is no reason, (so how long it took hackers to break into CA terrorist iphone, that supposed to be unbreakable even by Crapple engineers?).
N7 absolutely has the power to support full encryption, but Samsung being the biggest phone maker thankfully don't follow all Google's bad ideas (physical home button and SD card support come to mind as examples).
So what's the story here or is it a taboo, or maybe nobody cares?
What's the encryption story in Android 7?

bricked galaxy s7 edge

I rooted my galaxy s7 edge (snapdragon) and everything was fine and working except I couldn't get SuperSU to install properly. I would get the app screen, but nothing else. A couple of apps would show up (Root Checker, Flashfire) after I had run them but I didn't get the typical SU screen with settings. I'm not including the softwares used (I did have debugging enabled in Develper options on the phone, secure boot unchecked, and the correct Samsung USB drivers installed) because I don't think it's relevant to my question - if not so, let me know and i'll be glad to provide the info - I'm a newbie at this so please bear with me). I read about the warning to not update the 2.74 version of SuperSU but then I saw the update beta for 2.77 so I tried that. It appeared to run ok; I could see all the commands being executed and then ending and then the phone rebooted, as it's suppose to do. This is when the problem emerged; a screen came up saying "start up failed" and at the top left of the screen it said 'Custom binary blocked by secure boot (boot.img). I rebooted to TWRP recovery mode and tried rebooting which again resulted in the start up failure screen. I then tried the wipe data\factory reset setting and the same thing happened. I then booted to maintenance mode and got the warning screen about a custom OS installation can cause problems but if you want to proceed press volume up key which I did and got the usual Downloading page. At the top of the Downloading page I noted it said, among other identifying info: Odin mode (high speed), FRP lock: off, QUALCOMM Secure Boot: enable, and Secure Download: enable.
But, when connecting the usb cable to the phone and pc, my computer (Win 10) doesn't even see it. Not sees and doesn't recognize, but doesn't even see it. I tried a second USB cable and different ports but got the same results. I tried a second computer and got the same thing.
I am guessing that if I could still access the phone to run rooting apps I could get past the lock. If not now, maybe later on when someone figures our a way to do so. But without a working connection to the phone I am helpless. I am wondering if Verizon disables USB intentionally, so that the phone essentially becomes useless. Or, is it a coincidence and perhaps there is something wrong with the usb hardware.
Is there a way out of this other than having to pay for it to be fixed (which Samsung won't do - I called - and maybe Verizon not either).
Thanks in advance -
j-brah

Need help to flash stock rom

Hello,

I have just recently been approached by my friend who had his mobile [HTC Desire 626] infected with the "Porn Virus" which caused pop ups and installed applications and slowed the mobile down, in an attempt to rid the virus he ended up deleting some system files, including but not limited to the home button function and some feature that shows the memory occupied by an app in the setting > applications tab. A Factory Default Reset does not get rid of this virus nor does it fix the damage he caused to the system files.

He came to me for help and i have no idea how to flash or root. I have read loads of guides over the years and i haven't yet found a way to make it work, on account that my Xperia got destroyed in a road accident, most of the guides ask me to go into the Hboot menu but i am not able to access this menu with the Power + Volume Down shortcut. The fix for this is to turn off Fast Boot in the Power option in settings but this option is not visible to me in settings. Another fix is to remove the battery and power up the phone with volume down button held, this is not possible with the HTC Desire 626 as the back is i believe glued to the battery.

So basically what i am asking for is a way to flash a stock/custom ROM onto my friends mobile to fix the damage he caused and to eradicate the virus. I have a concern which is that i read in a couple forums that it is possible to get the mobile to go into a Hard Brick if i install the wrong Radio/Carrier. Looking at the many ROM's provided in the HTC support, my carrier is not listed, another forum suggested that it is possible to flash a ROM excluding the Radio, i would like to know if this is possible and how.

Thank You for the help in advance and i hope that i have been clear about my situation.

Ps. I see forums with HTC Desire 626s but no HTC Desire 626.
Pps. This is a repost since my post at xda-assist got no replies.

Hi, i have a SGH-I337M, with the AOSP 6.0.1 rom with root, since i can remember the phone had been pretty much hot, i didn't care much back then since i use it a lot but recently my phone started to freeze, like the screen freezes and i cant do anything, not even turn it off, so i have to take off the battery let it cool for 20 minutes and start it again, then it works about 10 or 20 minutes and then again it freezes i think it might be related to the heat. Also some few times my screen has turned green and then white and others few times i can see some sort of colored strings.

I'm pretty sure its hardware related but i don't know why it happens and if it can be repaired, do think ill have to change the whole motherboard?

Concept Marshmallow vs. AOSP Developer World

I'm way out of the loop on this phone right now, it's my wife's. But she's been running the Concept Marshmallow Edition, and is currently on build mob30m.z1.3633-somc

Does any one know if the AOSP build available on developer.sonymobile.com is a better route? I can't imagine reverting her to Lollipop at this point, but I'd really like to solve the video issue for her if at all possible. Any one have any input? Thanks if you do!

Android 7 Stock (with root) Is it possible to get circle battery??

There is no support for xposed and really no custom rom support yet for 7; but is there a way to get the circle battery?? Maybe a manual way to do it? Or maybe through substratum?

I'm thinking about automated launch of the Google Play Store app with the function "My apps & games" / Update using cron and something like

"am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android...."

Is it possible?

Thanks in advance!

CM-13 "charging slowly" notification and slow charge too

HI guys, I'm not sure if I did something or what, but the day after I install the CM-13 snapshot, I realise that my phone was charging really slow, more than 3 hrs than usual, using the same charger that I use before flashing. What I notice is a notification saying "charging slowly" and the time that it might take, anyone has any idea?

This is the SS of that notification.

[HTC 10] Enable LTE bands by Editing NV values with QXDM/DFS tool - Custom kernels?

Hi!

So I bought a HTC 10 from Amazon back in May and, even though the product description said it was the US version which had LTE bands for US carriers (specifically 4-AWS), they sent me a M10h, which is the international/asian version that doesn't support band 4. I can't return the phone though, since I'm from Argentina and with the insane customs ruling here, sending the phone to the US and back would cost me almost as much as just buying selling mine (at a highly reduced pricepoint since it doesn't support LTE in my country) and buying a new one.

After a lot of reading here in XDA, paying 25$ to be S-Off, flashing radios, changing roms and kernels, and a bunch of other stuff, I've come to the conclusion that my only alternative left is to change the 06828 NV value (which determinates what LTE bands are activated) with QXDM/DFS tools/whatever program. I've managed to put the phone in diag mode (for those who don't know how, I'll leave a little tutorial in the end of the thread), but when I write the value and then read it again it's back to its original state. I guess this is some kind of protection Qualcomm/HTC/whoever put in place to avoid users messing around with this stuff.

I read in the HTC One M9 forums that users with CDMA phones could change the 06828 value, while I, using a GSM phone, have been able to change 06829. I tried using a Verizon radio, which turns on and off the diag mode for some reason, and a Sprint radio, which gives me a "diag error response" in QXDM when I try to read/write any NV value.

Maybe a custom kernel can help avoid the write protection for NV values? I don't know a lot about that kind of stuff, so it's the only thing that I believe could change my situation

Phone info:
White HTC 10 M10h model
LeeDroid 10 v2.4.1-stable rom with CleanSlate kernel
S-Off and root
Baseband version 1.0U010141a@60527.2_51.01_F

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
For those who can't make it to Diag Mode:
1) Install the HTC Diag Drivers in your PC
2) Install a terminal emulator in your phone (in my case I used SManager)
3) Connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable
4) In the terminal emulator use:
Code:

su
and then
Code:

setprop sys.usb.config diag
5) Now touch on the "Use USB for" notification.
6) If everything worked, the phone should block you from choosing any option in the list besides Charging and USB tethering
7) Choose USB tethering
8) Your phone should appear in the Windows Device Manager as HTC Diagnostic Interface, which means the phone is in Diag Mode
9) To return to the default USB mode, repeat step 4, but replacing setprop sys.usb.config diag for
Code:

setprop sys.usb.config mtp
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know any way to make my phone work? Any kernel made from scratch I can try? I'm really desperate.

Thank you all for reading!

Need help finding a Homebrew Arcade Emulator

Does anyone know of any Emulators for Android that run Homebrew/Hacked Arcade Roms? I know there is a Android-Project Folder on the HBMAME GitHub Page, but the Dev says it requires too much to do. I have tried running NeoDS on Drastic which would allow me to run the NEO-GEO Homebrew Roms, but it wont work correctly for me, or would require a few things I have no experience in doing.
The Modded versions of CPS1PSP, CPS2PSP and MVSPSP are able to run somewhat on PPSSPP for Android, but there is no Menu Button to access the Emulator's Menu to change various Settings, not to mention there are some problems running the mentioned Emulators. 1 of which (which is funny by the way), CPS1PSP, when running a Game such as sfzch (CPS Changer), the audio sounds like it is Accelerated so they sound like Chipmunks.
There are a few Emulators that are supposedly hacked or Modded to run the Homebrew Roms, but they have their own problems. Either they dont work, are not worked on anymore, or when you try to Map the On-Screen Buttons, they all dont work, or wont Map correctly.

Cyanogenmod 12.1 and 13 for T211

Well, I'm here again. I create this thread for better manager with both CM12.1 and 13. I need to hear many devs here and not devs.
The first question is, you think is possible to build CM12.1 for T211 ?
The second question, What the error you got when you try to build it ?
In my opinion is possible, but very hard, I don't try yet for 2 reason: First is my CPU limitation, it can't supports OS x64, (if you think I'm lie, You can check my laptop to get 100% assurance). The second reason is the new Run Time Machine ART, on lollipop and marshmallow, touchwiz on 4.4.2 is not compatible with art and obvious I will need the source code KK to build it....
If I begin to build I will need any person here can make all work on computer, I will try to help and give my best. To build cyanogenmod, we need to use x64 ubuntu.

I can't make this work alone, especially for Tab 3 T211 with the different hardware.... I need a help.

I don't put the T210, because I don't have this device. So I can make rom with total stability.... but I think is not to hard if I made CM12.1 for T211 to port it on T210, the difference between is call parts....

Probably the Best/Stylish case you can buy for ONEPLUS 3

Hey, Guys
I'm Hrishi K (a.k.a. @hrishi21007 )
I recently found this awesome cover for our OP3!!
I thought i would share the experience with ya'll

TL;DR
Being a YOUTUBER always compels me to make videos about my experience
and i'm glad i can do that!

This is not that in depth as i have talked about here!
Although it perfectly describes my experience in a TL;DR fashion ;)

You can Subscribe to my Channel for more OP3 Related videos!

My Experience:
I purchased this Cover from Ali-express website... (on recommendation from my friend)

Spent 7$ bucks for this cover,
this was basically a Dead investment for me it seemed(at that time!)
I usually don't shop on Chinese website... i prefer Amazon :D
But yeah, i did purchase it because, it looked awesome in the pictures!!

Waiting & Waiting...

Its was now time to wait... and Oh boy it took a lotttttt of time!
I live in India...and it took almost 30days to reach my place! :(

I was honestly very nervous if i would even get the case to my doorstep! but luckily i did!!
it was honestly a awesome feel when i opened the ugly Yellow bag though :p

Unboxing:
I did unboxed(unpacked :p ) it finally,
Although the packaging wasn't anything near to perfect...the COVER was Supremely Way past my expectations

The Design i choose was not only Perfect but it felt really great!
I huriedly applied it to my OP3 and YES, it was damm perfect (i know its not rocket science, but hey not everything is perfect..i had to make sure! :D )

The Phone looked DOPE!
and that was the best 7$ i ever spent on any cover ever that looked so good!!
These points/Reviews are my opinions after using the case for 4-5weeks now!

Review:
Pros:

* Perfect fit
* Grippy Texture
* Stylish 3D Design
* Keeps the Profile Slim
* Well sort out cut out for the Phone buttons
* Semi-Hard material (Soft to hold & Apply on phone w/o scratching it)
* Protects/Hides camera bump
* Easy on the Wallet

Cons:
* No Corner Protection
* Top & Bottom Borders aren't covered
* No Bezel Lip to prevent screen to touch the Surface
* Long Time for International shipping

The Cover has this Texture at the back which is just perfect & compliments the design on the case perfectly enough!!
On the other side the phone is much more Grippy now! and feels great in the hand!
Its not that THICK nor is it Slippery anymore!

The "INFAMOUS Camera HUMP" is now definately flush!
& with that my OCD can now settle down a bit :p

Some High RES Pictures

(sorry i had only OP3 to picture this! So i couldn't show how OP3 fits in this,
but you can see it in the video)

Let me know, if you liked these kind of review/posts
Cheers
#NeverSettle

Warm Regards,
Hrishi K <3
