Many nexei to flash/localize.. dev questions
Hello. I work for a nonprofit (a tiny Sprint MNVO) who received a block donation several years ago of 1,000 nexus 5(s) and we give them to various participating agencies who in turn distribute them to low-income and/or homeless individuals who meet certain criteria.
The task has fallen on me to update these phones, install bundled software, and perform various other relatively trivial customizations such as boot animations and wallpaper. In some cases the customizations include bundled contact lists, which is particularly problematic for my current methodology.
I have been doing the above by setting up a template phone and then backing up to fastboot-flashable system and userdata partitions using Chainfire's excellent Flashfire tool, however this method poses certain general pains in my ass, including:
1. The resultant phone remains rooted and having flashfire installed, which is not desired for the end user so this must be undone. This is not a huge deal, I can uninstall using ADB, and have incorporated those lines into my flash script.
2. Since we do no wish to include a preinstalled user account, the contacts when included are very fragile and have a tendency to get wiped out and require manual importing from .vcf. Since the contacts vary per ~ 8 licalizations, this is tricky and has the potential for mistakes, which are unacceptable.
3. The phone does not start in a fresh state, that is userdata is populated so that the setup wizard is not invoked, which seriously bothers the purist in me.
4. There seems to be a potential for weird play services bugs to be introduced with OTAs and sometimes the OTAs end with an error but then appear to be installed anyway. Obviously this is a signature difference resulting from system partition customizations.
In general, I feel like there is a "right" way to go about this, and that this is not it. Should I be compiling from scratch? I'm not a dev strictly speaking (was a tester by trade) but I'm not entirely stupid, if there were kind of a walkthru. I've read the one on XDA/android and it made me overwhelmed and sleepy. Maybe someone knows of some others. Particularly, how do other vendors install software and perform customizations post-init, yet remain OTA friendly. Something to do with system/vendor? How does that work? Failing all else, is there an easy way to disable OTAs altogether on a stock ROM?

Wifi disconnect when screen is off
Hello
I have upload my n7100 to android 6.0.1 and now, wifi disconnects when the screen is off. When I press the bottom, the screen is on and the wifi just is on.
In wifi options, wifi in suspension is NEVER.
So... I am very upset :(. Do you have any solution?

"Best" Stock MM optimized rom
Hey guys I am looking for a rom that has some added features and added optimization similar to cataclysm but on the latest security base 30. i dont like aosp due to bugs and some stability issues. but i am kinda looking for something with a little better performance than just base stock since i know there can be lots of little tweaks made to optimize the stock builds. again i dont want a hybrid aosp or cm based build a pure stock optimized rom would be what im looking for similar to cataclysm. let me know what your using and how you like it.

Xiaomi MI5 pop-up adds
I hope I can get some help here. Today I started getting add pop-ups on my Xiaomi MI5 that's 3 days old. I installed a lot of applications, but they have all been previously installed on my HTC Desire 500 and my Nexus 7 and I never had any issues. The adds pop up after I unlock the screen, sometimes it's just a Home screen that's not responding (until I hit the Back button), sometimes it's a full add. Adds vary a lot and change from Pokemon training spam to Anti-spyware apps. On some adds it said it's sponsored by "StartApp". On one add there was an information button, so I got some message from "com.aqplay.mediation" about permission settings (nothing really relevant, couldn't uncheck anything anyways).
After scanning the phone with Avast, MBAM and Addons Detector, I got nothing. I also went through a crapload of forums looking for answers, tried to uninstall some apps that I installed today, but nothing helped.
In the end I noticed that the built-in application "File Manager" keeps ending up in my Recent Applications list, even though I never opened it. So I tried to stop and uninstall it, but with no luck. There is a process that looks suspicious so I would like to ask anyone to check if they have the same process on their device.
Under Settings - Installed apps - Running - File Manager there is a Service (second from the top) called "zdrhhriggx". Can anyone verify they have the same Service running?
Since it's a built in app, I can't Disable or Uninstall File Manager to be 100% sure, but so far I have found a workaround.
In the Security application I went to Data Usage settings - Data usage stats - System apps - File Manager and I disabled it's Mobile and Background data access. I am unable to turn off the WLAN setting for it though. But so far, no adds in the last 30mins.
If anyone has a good permanent solution to this problem (I know I can do a factory reset, but let's make that the last option) I'd be forever grateful. :)

Nexus 6P - Endless Bootlop

ExtSd fix not working
I have tried several extsd fix methods and so far I am still running into the same problem. I have a mp3 Downloader that stores the files in the system music folder. When I tryed using the stock file manager it says transfer failed. So I tried using ES file explore as I have for some time with the same result. I'm using a M919 OK3 4.4.4 rooted stock. I tried using NextApp SD fix and a few other SD fix apps with no luck. I even tried twrp manager to undo the fix and redo it. Still nothing... I am open to any suggestions since this has me baffled. This is the only phone I have ever had do this. I have a sgh-I337, galaxy centura, and a few other phones that I have rooted and either modified the stock or put a custom rom on and never have had this problem.

Lenovo Vibe x2 Root Problem
Hello Everyone,
I am a noob in this world and now i am stuck in very bad situation i rooted my phone today but when i turned on my mobile it was freezing and restart over over and over again. I searched quite a bit for this issue nothing found so i looked for new directions to restore with old rom so i download the default rom from internet and installed it, it worked but my phone could not receive any calls or messages, i am using mobile data it works fine but when ever i try calling it shows the dialing screen and then it suddenly exits from the dialing screen, same it is with the messages sending it starts sending but suddenly reports that message was not sent.
Please help me i am doing this for this whole day and i have got no solution please help me

Streght signal problem

ROM Installer is the new revolutionary way to flash Custom ROM on every Android device (5.0+). This is a source code project which means that you have to download the project and to import it into your Android Studio. Installed RemixOS stucks at the flashing display but boot up in debug mode
Hi everyone:
I install RemixOS on hard drive following some directions found on XDA (http://ift.tt/2aH4vi6) to installs the system directly to hard drive without dual boot.
What i did was the following: After pressing TAB on Resident mode, i removed everything after "quiet". Then i put INSTALL=1 and then format to ext4 to use all the disk space.
The installer finalizes without errors, but when i restart and choose normal init at GRUB, the system stucks on flashing screen, then never enters to graphic env.
The things changes when i boot in debug mode. The system boot up completely but to console. I know how to use Linux, but this distro its very different to an standard one, so i need some directions to diagnose and solve the problem.
In debug mode, when i grep dmesg for error or warning nothing is found. All the devices are detected and aparently installed.
The only thing that got my attention when i installed Remix was the following messages:
- intel_powerclamp: Intel powerclamp does not run on family 6 model 15
- intel_rapl: driver does not support CPU family 6 model 15
But these msgs i suppose that are normal because is an old CPU that not support all the features that the driver does, right?
Anyway, these are the specs of the intallation:
- RemixOS version: B2016071501.
- CPU: Intel Dual Core E2160 1.68Ghz
- MB: Foxconn 45CMX
- GPU: Intel integrated on MB. I don't know the exact model
- HDD: 60Gb SATA
Any ideas to solve this problem?

Possible to rescue the phone?
Hey guys,
my girlfriend has an M9. Saturday it lied idle on the table and rebooted itself. When it booted it just showed the white screen with the HTC logo and the read disclaimer warning.
I rebooted with power off and volume up and the phone just bootlooped all the time. Shows black screen with HTC Logo.
I tried to press the Vol down button on a restart but that didnt work it just bootlooped as before. Then I pressed Vol up +down and could enter the bootloader. From there I entered twrp and tried to wipe the system and then it just shows:
"Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer." and it failed to mount /cache , /system, /data, /devlog, /carrier , /cota , /preload and "Unable to mount storage" followed by failes in /data and cache.
Every fail have an (Invalid argument).
I also tried following fastboot commands:
format system
Couldn't parse partition size '0x0X118000000'.
erasing 'system'...

No brightness control, on superdim. Possibly rooted before.
I bought a Note 8 from a pawn shop for $15 because the screen "wouldn't come on". When I got home I noticed it was indeed on, just on superdim. It has full backlight working, just no control over the brightness. The slider moves to any percentage, but does nothing. It can be adjusted to be Dimmer using app store programs (though I suspect it is just filters not actual brightness control on these apps).
I've seen things like this with rooted devices being factory reset on Kindle HD and thought it may have had a custom ROM before and the pawnshop reset it to sell it and this happened. Makes sense since the tablet was working before they reset it to sell.
How do I go about getting this set back on a factory flash? After that how about a one click option for a custom ROM after it's working properly?
Side note, if the backlight is indeed working and on superdim (this is confirmed) could it be a sensor going bad instead?
How do I get a wifi only model into service mode to do a sensor test?
THIS MODEL IS: GT-N5110 WIFI ONLY.

Posting on behalf of one of my mates. He tried rooting his htc desire 626s Tmobile us. Unfortunately he messed up and it ran into a bootloop along with a coldboot message. He tried flashing ruu files. But does not work. Was wondering if anyone has a stock flashable rom or a backup of their system. So he could restore via twrp? Any other possible solutions as many others are running into the same ditch. Please help.

Previous OTAs that are rootable
I'm getting a new g3 this week. I know the first thing the phone will do when I activate it is to do the OTAs. I want to root my phone. I want to know at which point do I stop the OTAs so I don't get stuck with unroot able version. I know the latest version, 6.0 is not root able. I do want to accidentally go to far.

Soft brick bootloop help! I tried everything I could think of.
Backstory I'm running PureNexus rom with Experimental kernel. Yesterday out of nowhere the phone started bootlooping, usually this is fine and i'll just restart the phone. Well after trying this the bootloop stayed for 15mins. I cleared cache and dalvik and still the same results. I ended up trying to restore a previous nandroid and nothing changed. Frustrated I backuped my titanium backups to my PC and cleared everything, factory reset and data format from twrp. I tried flashing the PureNexus rom clean and still bootloops. It just hangs on the white Google screen with the black background.
I'm following Heisenberg's tutorial (section 10) and after using fastboot and following the directions, i'm getting stuck on flashing the system. I'll get, "load_file: could not allocate 2014388768 bytes
error: cannot load 'C:\angler\images\system.img'
I read restarting the computer might help and i tried that and nothing has changed. It seems this is not rom related, since I downloaded a couple different ones and pushed it to my phone/flashed and it still bootloops. Any suggestions or help? Thanks!

I have this game installed, seven knights. It says it uses about 1gb of data. However, it does not seem to be in Android \data or \obb
Where can it be hiding? I want to mount it in the sd card to save space.

Windows Phone 10 on Samsung Ativ S 8.1.1 - cant access registry. What to do??
Hello guys.
I wanted to try Windows Phone 10 on my Samsung Ativ S (i8750, WP 8.1.1) but the Preview for Developers app is not compatible with my device anymore (Microsoft deleted it?) How can i access the registry to get WP10?? I dont want to use custom ROMs.

mixed mode storage for SD-cards possible (MM 6.0.1)?
The enlargement of the internal storage via Link2SD isn´t working for me, adoptable storage as described in the forum is under "construction", Apps2SD will work only with not partititioned cards and not with all apps...

I ACCIDENTALLY SET WRONG PERMISSIONS FOR /system/app/ directory and now I get ERRORS
Basically, I was installing an app as a system app with ADB. When I suddenly accidentally.
DID: adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/
And now I get the error: Unfortunately the process Com.Android.Phone has stopped.
And it says no SIM CARD! I broke the permissions and I wanna fix this.
The Message pops up every second!
What are the original permissions for /system/app/ so I can set it back and be relieved!?

S5 G900F stuck in a bootloop
somebody can tell me step by step what to do? I'm stuck in a bootloop and i tried to install the stock firmware with odin but it keeps failing :( Odin says that after i started it, everything is ok and i get a "pass" in Odin but it just keeps rebooting :( i only can get into download mode, not into recovery mode :( And when the phone starts to boot, i just get this black screen with the samsung galaxy S5 on it and in the top corner in blue letters "recovery booting ..." and then it goes black and restart ...

Wifi not working after installing Android Revolution HD
In order to get rid of the AT&T bloatware that originally came with my phone, I installed Android Revolution HD 53.1. I roughly followed the guide here.
I used TWRP as the custom recovery.
Now, I can't use Wifi at all. (i.e. it is off and when I try to turn it on it just becomes grey). Someone online suggests deleting data/misc/wifi but that did not fix the issue for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I have HBOOT-3.19, and S-ON

Is there a main or sticky re the bootloop issue?
I'm sorry to ask a question that may have been asked dozens of times, but I am unable to find a thread clearly describing the much talked about "Bootloop" issue with the G4. After reading through several threads, I've come to the conclusion that there may be an issue with the LG G4's with serial numbers that begin with 505.
My own G4 has been working great until this morning. I bought the device from a T-Mobile store in about June, 2015. It is not rooted, and is completely stock. This morning I woke up to find my phone would not turn on. I tried removing and replacing the battery, changing batteries, plugging it into a charger, booting without the sim and SD card.
Eventually I looked up how to boot it into recovery (power vol down, let go for one second at LG logo, then power and vol down until menu screen appears). My phone will not boot into recovery.
It starts to boot normally, but either reboots after the LG logo, reboots at the T-Mobile screen, or simply turns the screen off and stops. One time it actually booted to the home screen, but ran very sluggish, then the Lookout app reported that, "Malware has successfully been removed". Then the phone froze and I had to reboot.
From what I've read in several threads, this is a common issue and the only fix is to have LG replace the motherboard. But if this is such a common issue with this phone, why is there no sticky?

Issue with Audio Out
HI I recently buy the car android unit. I attach the amplifier with the unit's blue wire so it turn on with unit power on. But now when i increase the volume more than 20 it just stop the audio out on all speakers. And the only way it work is turn the car off wait 1 min then power on. Can any one help me regarding this?

S5 Unlocking Trouble plz help.
Im sorry if there was already a solution to this posted, but Ive been wracking my brain and searching the forums here for days and cant seem to find a solution. Im trying to SIM unlock my Sprint S5 G900P, As far as I seen I have to root it then downgrade it to kitkat in order to use the SSU application. Well the root was cake, used odin. But I have yet to be able to intall a new OS, I have used multiple .tar OS with no avail it fails everytime, if it helps im in the US. Please any Insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I've recently acquired this phone from Bell (wireless Carrier in Canada) and the phone shipped new with Android version 6.0.1. As you are well aware Marshmallow breaks fast boot functionality in the boot loader leaving me unable to perform "fastboot -i 0x1bbb oem unlock".
I've attempted to downgrade the phone using "Mobile_Upgrade_Q_5.0.6_Setup"; however after the process was successful and complete, the phone did not downgrade to version 5 of Android. The phone still had version 6 present as it shipped with this version.
Do you have any suggestions about how I could go about "unlocking" the phone as I need to use a sim card from a different wireless carrier.

HELP PLEASE! Samsung galaxy sII skyrocket hotspot turns on, but is not detected.
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII AT&T unlocked and on Tmobile. It is running Paranoid Android 6.0.1, with root. I am on a plan with mobile hotspot enabled and allowed. When I go to turn on the hotspot, there is no problem, and the toggle goes on. But the hotspot cannot be detected on any other devices(iPhone, android, PC). It doesn't even show up in the list of wifi networks. I really need hotspot to tether to iPad on the go, so if you know a possible solution, please tell me.

Need help with my Moto G 2nd Gen
So yesterday I had rooted my device but i noticed that i couldn't install any app so i decided to try and factory reset it and try rooting it again to see if it would fix it. I then tried factory wipe and reset through CWM and when i went to reboot it was stuck on the boot unloader warning screen. I'm still able to access CWM. i tried resetting to stock firmware but to be honest i don't know which one to download as I'm not sure which one is my stock firmware. I will gladly answer any questions you guys have to help me through this process.

Fire Stick issue with Ouya Controller
Hi all,
I'm trying to setup RetroArch on my Fire TV Stick with an Ouya controller, and have the controller keymap working properly. Now I am running into an issue that the left trigger is always mapped to Home on the Fire Stick, and am unable to get around it. This is problematic as I can't map the trigger to anything else, and inadvertantly pressing the trigger while in RetroArch causes the game to pause and the Ouya controller is no longer recognized after resuming.
I can see the keylayout file in /system/usr/keylayout for the Ouya controller, but can't comment out the line mapping the left trigger to home. (Not rooted).
Any ideas?

LG G2 in boot loop and can't get into recovery

What is that?
This Kernel MOD is specially for Qualcomm Devices made. It enables 192kHz 24bit Playback and 24bit Audio Record in the Kernel Audio Drivers.
To get these 100% work, changes in Audio HAL could be needed
Why I do this?
Because only some Manufacturers have this into their kernels because they removed it, due market policies (that you will ever have to buy the newest phone, good example is the HTC One M8 and 10, both have the same audio abillities but only with mods u can enable it on M8)
It's tested on
Sony Xperia Z Ultra (Stock, GPE and AOSP kernel)
Sony Xperia Z1 (Stock and AOSP kernel)
Should theoretically work from apq8064 to msm8994 (msm8996 support comes soon)
What I need to do to add this into a Kernel?
First you need a kernel for a Snapdragon Device
The next section includes a link to my Github Repository
Merge the files from my repository into the root of your kernel
I use this way to merge them:
Download the zip of my repo
Extract the zip into the root of the kernel

Bootlop / cannot enter TWRP from Bootloader Menu / Power button stuck
Hi guys,
I currently have some issues with my beloved N5. I try to be as specific as I can (therefore the text will be a bit longer) :D
First things first: My device is experiencing the well known "stuck power button problem".
But I also do have problems which are not related to that one (at least thats what I believe).
Overview:
CM 13.1
ElementalX Kernel
TWRP on 3.0.20
Main issue: I can not start my phone regularly. When not plugged in, it just does not respond at all.
If it is plugged in I can get into the bootloader with only pressing Volume down (because the power button is stuck inside). Weird fact #1: in bootloader the power button should work to confirm a specific task like Start, or boot into recovery but it doesnt. Also: the phone is steady in the bootloader and does not keep rebooting.
Therefore I wanted to perform a backup (nandroid or at least all media) and reflash my ROM to see whether it is more of a software issue. I tried booting into TRWP which is not working (device shuts down after Google logo (might be because of the power button issue?).
I know that I can flash the recovery again through adb or the Nexus ToolKit but obviously I want to save my data first.
As far as I know there is no option as adb pull or through the recovery to save those only being in bootloader mode, am I right?
Question: Can I dirty flash without losing data? If thats not the cure, what else could help?
Other facts to know: while running

so its kind of dizzy to root sony xperia devices when you have to unlock the bootloader, you cant use any kind of app such ass kingroot,one-click root etc. is there any way to root it wihtout using sony's method because it's kind of ancient and confusing???

Hi,
I've bought the Chinese version which lacks some bands, but it seems that I'm more dependent on the 800 MHz/band 20 than first imagined.
I've seen that there has been some success in unlocking "hidden" bands on the 1/2. Would this be possible for the oneplus 3?

Clear all recents not working..actually nothing works
Dear All,
This is a very peculiar issue i am facing currently. Intermittent in nature but once it appears, stays for a while.
Please see the image below and read the steps 1, 2 and also notice the android logo window which i feel is the bugger.
I am using latest nightly of AICP ROM on my XT1033 device with Kaminari kernel and open Gapps.
One more thing- the screen size reduces from both top and bottom..like black borders..this might not be visible in the posted pic due to the background. Nothing works after that.say i cannot scroll, cannot click any app..complete freeze. Please help.

LG G3 Bootloop
Hi guys. I have an unlocked AT&T LG G3 D850 and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it's stuck in a bootloop. I've tried just about everything but nothing works. I'm able to access both recovery and download mode, but every time I exit it, I just get thrown into another bootloop. Strangely, I didn't do anything to the phone recently, and it was working absolutely fine minutes before I noticed the bootloop.
First thing I tried was wiping everything and reinstalling the ROM. I am rooted and was running a Marshmallow distro of Resurrection Remix, with TWRP 3.0 (I think) running my recovery. I booted into TWRP and cleared everything, reinstalling the ROM. Didn't work. Okay, so maybe the ROM is to blame. Tried some different versions, still nothing.
I then tried flashing stock firmware using download mode, and kept getting errors at the beginning of the LG flash tool utility. After switching USB ports, it started working. However, after about 30 minutes, it would fail, and I would get a message saying it couldn't communicate with the device. I tried this multiple times to no avail.
Eventually, I ended up running the program one last time and left it for a couple hours. When I got back to check it, I was super relieved because the phone had apparently successfully been flashed back to stock firmware. Keep in mind this process usually only takes 4-8 minutes, whereas my phone took hours to get it done.
Finally, I booted the device, full of hope. NOPE. Bootloop again. I tried resetting it using the volume down combo, but it stays in a bootloop every time.
I am running out of options and getting desperate, and I really don't wanna fork out the cash for another phone if I don't have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
