Help

Good day. I have a galaxy nexus i9250 and tried upgrading os to 5.1.1. Got as far as recovery mode wipe and realized needed sd card after fact. Can this be done w/o a s card? Is there a better or ez-r way than to upgrade to 5.1.1. Thanking in advance.
