Help with Perseus kernel

I'm currently running CM 12.1 with android lollipop (5.1.1), and would like to flash the Perseus kernel, however I encounter several issues. When I run my custom recovery (TWRP), it does not read the .tar file. I've tried renaming it to a .zip, however that does not work. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this issue :confused:
